We were surprised and delighted to discover that we had bred a "Tortie Boy" when
Woodycoon Harriet was mated to Ch Noracoon Vespasian (of Koonikki Maine Coons). We have called him Woodycoon Red Butler and he was born on Valentine's Day 2003.
When he was born, he had a very striking tortie pattern with lots of red visible. And, quite
understandably, we assumed we had a tortie female. It was only when he went for his first vaccination and the vet checked (then double-checked) against the rest of the litter that we learnt
our initial assumption was wrong.
Tortie Boys are extremely rare - but having said that, Vesper has sired one before. There's some
more information about "Geezer" on Fiona and Mark Nicholls' website.
This is a picture of him at 8 months of age:

Red has been inspected by our veterinary practice (twice) at vaccination time, several breeders and
last, but not least, two FIFe judges and several TICA judges. All have confirmed that Red is both a classic tortie tabby (or torbie in TICA) with white and definitely male.
Red was shown at the first TICA show in the UK, and gained enough points to get his first title -
Champion Alter. Red has continued to attend TICA shows and is now a Supreme Grand Champion Alter. We are delighted for him and his ecstatic owner.
There's a site with more information about Tortie Boys and the possible reasons for them here
Originally we had decided on Woodycoon Scarlett OHara as a pedigree name. But we had to change
that and he is now known as Woodycoon Red Butler. If you can't work out why then here's a clue.
